Frequently Asked Questions
A: To book an appointment with us, simply select your session type, and preferred date and time via our Online Booking System. Once you have selected your appointment, simply fill in the booking form with details about your dog, including their breed, age, and any special requirements.
Once submitted, you'll receive a reply within 24 hours confirming your session with all the pre-session information you'll need prior to visiting our studio.
A. Bring your dog on a leash and collar. A collar is preferred over a harness as harnesses can look more bulky and can’t be edited out of images. A collar allows us to take your dog on and off lead as needed throughout the shoot. We provide plenty of water, treats, toys and cleaning supplies to be used in your session (your pup can even take a toy home if they want!). Our most commonly used treats are beef liver treats, yoghurt drops, and peanut butter. If your dog has specific digestive concerns, please bring treats that are suitable for them. You are more than welcome to bring along accessories or outfits for your dog too.
A: At the start of your session, we will allow your dog a good 10-15mins to come into the studio and explore the new environment freely. I’ll take a few minutes to get your dog used to the flash and sounds of the studio lights and camera equipment. To capture our shots, we’ll pull out whatever rewards your dog responds to (treats, toys, praise etc.). Your dog will likely look to you for guidance, direction and rewards for their behaviour, so you will likely stay close by to them throughout the shoot, helping guide them into commands such as sit, stay and lay down. We will work together to give your dog the best shots possible.
A. Nope! At The Dog Studio, we ensure no other pets are present at the studio during your session time. Sessions are scheduled with plenty of time between appointments to ensure no cross-over of pets. This is particularly helpful for reactive or anxious dogs who might find the presence of other animals distressing.
A: The Dog Studio tailors care for each dog's unique needs, especially for those who are anxious or timid. We allow your dog the chance to explore the space freely before our session starts, and also work to slowly desensitise your pup to the studio equipment such as the light flash and the camera sounds, while rewarding them with treats and positive reinforcement to build trust and confidence until they are ready to start. If you feel your pup is finding the experience too distressing, we can end the session at any time. Our top priority is the safety and experience of your pup.
A: We want to make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience in our studio. If your dog has a history of aggression, particularly towards people, it may not be suitable to put them in this environment.
We recommend consulting with a vet or dog trainer to address any aggression issues before scheduling a session with us. If you're confident your dog has overcome these issues, we will happily give them opportunity to enjoy our space, however if your dog presents any aggressive behaviours such as growling, lunging or biting while in the studio, we will need to end the session for everyone's safety.
We are not able to accept a booking for a dog if they have been declared a dangerous dog by the council. Your understanding and cooperation ensure a safe and pleasant experience for everyone at The Dog Studio.
